Composite Aluminium Panelling

Composite Aluminium Honeycomb is a lightweight core material offering excellent strength and corrosion resistance for cleanroom panel applications. Composite aluminium sandwich panels otherwise known as aluminium composite panels are generally made of an aluminium honeycomb core bonded with two skins of high pressure laminate or aluminium. These panels are normally used in walls, doors, floors, and ceilings of cleanrooms.

Cleanroom applications require panels that can be washed continuously without breaking down. They also require architectural finishes which can withstand repeated cleaning and sanitisation with various chemicals in order to resist microbial and fungal growth.

Aluminium honeycomb panels are the most popular wall panels chosen for controlled environments and cleanrooms because they can serve the purpose effectively. They are non-outgassing, non-particle shedding, and anti-static as well as lightweight and non-combustible. They also have a resistance to chemicals.

Total Clean Air is leading the way in establishing a higher standard in cleanroom technologies to ensure the highest quality cleanroom possible, on-time delivery and close quality control. We are the UK’s foremost builders of high-quality cleanrooms that meet international standards for different industries. Our composite aluminium panelling creates classified environments which protect processes from harmful contamination thereby reducing failure rates.

At Total Clean Air, we offer an economical approach to your panelling needs and strive to supply the most cost-effective products on the market without compromising on quality.

Composite Aluminium Panelling and Cleanrooms

Composite aluminium panelling, which is made of aluminium composite material, consists of two thin coil-coated aluminium sheets bonded to a non-aluminium core. It is often used for external cladding or facades of buildings, insulation, and signage.

Composite aluminium panelling offers reduced environmental risks due to its improved and permanent surface finish for contamination controlled environments. Due to its features, composite aluminium panelling is more expensive than other forms of panelling, however, its unique properties outweigh the extra cost. It is used as a wall liner in cleanroom environments. It consists of a non-combustible cement core layered with a fiberglass reinforcement embedded in a fire-rated resin and surfaced with a non-porous, non-shedding antimicrobial gel coat finish.

The wall liner panels are manufactured in large flat moulds and cut to accommodate design requirements. The outside of the panels is covered and reinforced with an extruded aluminium profile.

Advantages of Composite Aluminium Panelling

At Total Clean Air, we create contaminant-free environments using our composite aluminium panelling. This ensures that critical processes can be conducted. Some of the advantages of composite aluminium panelling are:

  • Aluminium honeycomb cleanroom panels are non-shedding. Unlike aluminium honeycomb panels, if other types of panels are pierced or broken they can release spores into the cleanroom environment. This may lead to the cleanroom being shut down in order to be properly cleaned, have the air system filtered and then revalidated.
  • Aluminium honeycomb panels have a better resistance to damage due to their high crush strength and are also easier to repair. They can simply be filled whereas other panels may need to be completely replaced.
  • Composite wall and ceiling panels do not support the growth of mould, mildew and microbes. These panels withstand repeated cleaning and sanitising with various chemicals to resist microbial and fungal growth.
  • The aluminium honeycomb provides a more consistent, superior strength and increased stability throughout the whole panel. Also, the lightweight properties of aluminium honeycomb panels can reduce the cost of transport and potentially the amount of labour required. Because of the lightweight and high strength of the panels, architects and designers have the freedom to manoeuvre the material as they wish.
  • Because they are manufactured and pre-fabricated to size and specification, they reduce cutting and installation time. Also, composite aluminium panelling makes for easier, safer and more secure installation.
